With the My Crusty Bread baking mix, you can easily prepare your own delicious bread at home with an incredible crispy crust – organic, vegan & gluten-free!

Especially fans of sourdough bread will love the easy preparation of the oat sourdough of this baking mix. An aromatic crust and a fine combination of spices like coriander, fennel, anise and caraway create a special taste. What’s more, My Crusty Bread is an ideal source of fibre thanks to the carefully selected organic ingredients.

This baking mix contains 500 g and results in approx. 820 g crusty bread.

Oat wholemeal flour* (gluten-free), wholemeal rice flour*, corn starch*, corn flour*, tapioca starch*, wholemeal buckwheat flour*, oat sourdough powder* (gluten-free), linseed protein*, potato starch*, salt, psyllium husks*, rice syrup*, acidifier: potassium tartrate; leavening agent: sodium hydrogen carbonate; seasoning* (coriander*, fennel*, anise*, caraway*). (May contain traces of soy, cellery, mustard, sesame, lupine and nuts.)

Preparation

For Your Crusty Bread you still need

  • 450 ml water
  • 3 tbsp (30 ml) vinegar (e.g. apple vinegar)
  • manual mixer with dough hook
  • dough scraper

Please note: Adding vinegar only serves to conserve the bread, so it stays
fresh longer! The smell and taste of the vinegar dissipate during baking.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 250 °C circulating heat or top / bottom heat and place an oven-proof dish filled with water in the oven. Put your bread mix with water and vinegar into a mixing bowl and mix briefly with a hand mixer and dough hook until a smooth dough is formed (max. 1 to 2 minutes). Do not knead too long!
  2. Now gently push the dough together in the bowl with a dough scraper and leave it in the bowl for 15 minutes until the oven is well preheated. Now carefully flip the dough out of the bowl without kneading it (use the dough scraper if necessary) onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Do not knead the dough! The rough surface gives the loaf a rustic crusty bread look after baking.
    TIP: Cut the bread 2-3 cm deep (e.g. in a cross shape).
  3. Dust your crusty bread with plenty of flour and bake it in a preheated oven at 250 °C circulating heat for 10 minutes and then for 45 minutes at 220 °C
    or at 250 °C top / bottom heat for 55 minutes.
  4. Now enjoy your crusty bread after it has cooled a little on the rack.
